Reflections of Iwate in a clear mountain stream
Memories of a hillside clothed in green
And I arrive from a distant land
To find there’s a place for me here in Japan
Walk with the children they know where to go
Through the woods there’s secret trails they love to show
Then that old lady came tomatoes in her hand
She said ‘Why don’t you try one now, get a taste of Japan’
Get a taste of Japan you might leave but you’ll know
That your heart never left these mountains
There’s an endless desire just to find a real world
But the longed for truth is much nearer home
Reflections of Iwate swaying lanterns in the wind
Tinkling chimes of Autumn, night closes in
And though it’s changing, the people and the land
Still you you know there’s a place for you,
Always, right here in Japan.
